Village Wallet is a physical NFC card that stores cryptocurrency. It works like a tap-to-pay card, but for Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum. Each card contains an encrypted wallet that you control with a PIN.

You need:

• A Village Wallet NFC card
• Android phone with NFC
• Village Wallet app (free download)
• Your PIN (included with card)

Optional:

• MetaMask or other wallet (for advanced features)

Very secure! Your wallet uses multiple layers of protection:

• Encrypted private key - Uses AES-256 encryption
• PIN protection - Your 4-6 digit PIN is required to spend
• Physical security - Scratch-off protects printed key
• No servers - Your keys never leave your device
• Open source - Code is publicly auditable

If you lose your card:

1. Don't panic - Your funds are safe if no one knows your PIN
2. Import to MetaMask - If you backed up your private key
3. Transfer funds - Move to a new wallet immediately

No - if they don't have your PIN.

The private key on your card is encrypted. Without your PIN, they cannot decrypt it or spend your funds. However:

Best practices:

• Don't write your PIN on the card
• Don't store PIN and card together
• Don't scratch off the private key unless backing up

1. Open Village Wallet app
2. Tap "Check Balance"
3. Hold your card on the back of your phone
4. Your balance appears (no PIN needed!)

You can check balance without entering your PIN.

Two easy ways:

Method 1: Share your address

1. Look at the front of your card
2. Share your public address (0x...)
3. Or let someone scan the QR code

Method 2: Use the app

1. Open Village Wallet app
2. Tap "Check Balance"
3. Tap your card
4. Share the address shown

To pay a merchant with Village Wallet:

1. Merchant opens their Village Wallet app
2. Merchant sets payment amount
3. You tap your card on their phone
4. Enter your PIN
5. Payment sent! ✅

To send to any address:

1. Import your wallet to MetaMask (see below)
2. Use MetaMask to send to any address

Your Village Wallet works on:

• Ethereum - Main network (ETH)
• Polygon - Low fees (MATIC)
• Arbitrum - Layer 2 (ETH)

Your card address is the same on all networks! You can hold different balances on each network.

Example: You might have 0.1 ETH on Ethereum and 10 MATIC on Polygon.

Yes! You can import your Village Wallet into MetaMask or any other Ethereum wallet.

This gives you full wallet functionality:

• Send to any address
• Use DeFi apps
• Swap tokens
• Connect to dApps

1. Scratch off the back of your card
2. Go to village-wallet.com/decrypt
3. Enter:
   • Encrypted private key (from card)
   • Your PIN
   • Card serial number
4. Copy your decrypted private key
5. Open MetaMask → Import Account
6. Paste your private key
7. Done! Your wallet is now in MetaMask

Your card contains a small JSON file with:

• Your public Ethereum address
• Your encrypted private key
• Card serial number
• Network information

The private key is encrypted with your PIN, so it's safe even if someone reads the NFC chip.

Yes! Your Village Wallet is reusable:

• Top up as many times as you want
• Use for multiple transactions
• Works indefinitely

However: Once you scratch off the private key and import to another wallet, consider the physical card "exposed" for security. You can still use it, but your private key is no longer secret.

No! We never see or store your private keys.

Here's how it works:

1. Wallets are generated offline
2. Private keys are encrypted immediately
3. Only you have the PIN to decrypt
4. Keys are written directly to your card
5. We delete all data after production

Unfortunately, there's no way to recover a forgotten PIN.

This is by design for security. However, you have options:

• If you haven't scratched the card: Contact us with proof of purchase for a replacement card
• If you have a backup: Import your private key to a new wallet

Try these steps:

1. Enable NFC - Settings → Connected devices → NFC (turn ON)
2. Remove phone case - Cases can block NFC
3. Hold card steady - On the back center of phone for 3-5 seconds
4. Try different position - NFC antenna location varies by phone
5. Restart app - Close and reopen Village Wallet

Still not working?

• Test with another NFC app (like "NFC Tools")
• Try on a different phone
• Contact support if card is defective

Check these common issues:

• Wrong card - Make sure you're using the right card for that PIN
• Typo - PINs are case-sensitive (though usually numeric)
• Card serial - Verify the serial number matches

If none of these work, try using the decryption tool on our website to verify your PIN.

Common reasons transactions fail:

• Insufficient funds - Don't forget about gas fees!
• Network congestion - Try again in a few minutes
• Gas price too low - App should handle this, but try different network
• Internet connection - Need stable connection to broadcast

The app will show you exactly what went wrong in the error message.

No - cards arrive with a zero balance.

This is for security reasons:

• We never control your funds
• You choose which network to use
• You control when to load funds
